To the Revd the Minister of Budeaux St.

Chanter 232B, 502

  1. Residence, curate and lecturer: I reside personally upon my Cure, not in the vicarage House, which is small, but in a House of my own called Ernsettle. I have no Lecturer in the Parish of St. Budeaux.

  2. Other benefices: I have ye Windsor Curacy of Shaugh & Samford. I have also the vicarage of Runcorn in Cheshire.

  3. Divine service at other churches: I perform Divine Service at a small Chapel called Pancras belonging to ye Parish of St Andrew in Plymouth once a Fortnight in ye afternoon. But this Duty is an Imposition on ye minister of St Budeaux and I intend to throw it off, that custom may not establish it.

  4. Frequency of divine service: There is Divine Service <both> Forenoon and afternoon with two Sermons constantly at St. Budeaux, except as above mentioned.

  5. Frequency of communion: The Sacrament of ye Lords Supper is administered four Times a year at St Budeaux, namely at the three great Festivals, and at Michaelmas. Communicants about 30.

  6. Catechising of children: I generally catechise the youth every other Summer: And always on several Sundays previous to the Bishop's Confirmation.

  7. Church fabric: The Church and Chancel are in good repair, and ye churchyard well kept we have all things decent for Divine Service.

  8. Glebe terrier: There are no Glebe Lands except an House and garden, belonging to St. Budeaux. The Parish repair the House. The Vicarial Tithes belong to ye minister.

  9. Number of families: There are about seventy Families in the Parish.

  10. Chapels: There is no chapel in the Parish. The vicar of St Andrews in Plymouth pretends to claim ye Patronage. But I should dispute that point, thinking myself to be Patron, as Lord of ye Manor of Agaton.

  11. Papists, dissenters and meeting houses: We have no reputed Papists; nor any meeting Houses for any Dissenting Congregations, of any Denomination.

  12. School, alms-houses, hospital and charitable endowments: We have a Public Charity School. There is also a Small almshouse. I am one of ye Trustees for Both Endowments. I think they are duly and honestly managed. We have no Parochial Library.

  13. Charity: There are two Houses and two small Pieces of Land, which were given many years ago by John Ernesettle towards the maintenance of two Poor People. And lately I purchased an Estate of Land for ye Charity School with ye charity school money except about £40 or £50 which I advanced to make up ye Purchase money.

Priest's orders and institution: Priests orders are Dated 23d Dec 1733. Admitted to St. Budeaux at ye same time.
